oio school is coming back!

That’s right, our beloved oio school is making a comeback soon! Join us for a week-long workshop with the oio team, crafting future products and interactions with AI and emerging technologies, all set in the beautiful surroundings of an Italian seaside mansion. While we’re still in the planning stages, make sure to follow our socials for the big announcement. In the meantime, we cooked a nice documentary about the previous edition below ↓↓↓

There’s no official announcement yet about the 2025 edition, but in the meantime, you can head over to the oio.school website and leave your email to get the latest updates before anyone else. Invisible Frictions @ CIID Bergamo

Interaction design is coming to Bergamo, and we’re at the center of it. The Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, or CIID, recently opened its doors in the Italian city, and last month we were invited to run an interaction design workshop. So we went there, oio’s legendary lead designer Bjørn Karmann and myself, to run a workshop called Invisible Frictions.

🤔 Invisible Frictions? Well, our world is changing quite fast. Everything is increasingly AI-assisted, and the risk is to lose the habits and rituals that make life meaningful in the pursuit of efficiency. We invited students to explore friction as a design material, challenging them to design and prototype a series of objects that flip this concept around. The outcome was a collection of design projects that reimagine how we engage with AI technology in our daily lives. Check out our highlights video!

Archives never die

Remember ARCHIVIVES? It’s the project we developed at the end of our one-year residency at mudac — the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts of Lausanne. We created two interactive objects that investigate the fleeting nature of design heritage. What makes an object, a design object? How can we harvest, and eventually archive, the tacit knowledge that surrounds these artifacts? We covered all this in detail in our latest newsletter, so feel free to have a look there if you want to dig deeper. In the meantime, our friends at mudac have just released a video about ARCHIVIVES.
