📣 content creators wanted!

We’re on the hunt for a new content creator to join the oio team! Could it be you? If you’ve got a knack for storytelling and a passion for building vibrant communities, we want to hear from you. As our content creator, you'll be the mastermind behind our communication strategies, spanning social media, Discord, newsletters, and beyond. This means you'll take the lead on everything from brainstorming creative concepts to crafting and executing killer content that resonates with our audience. This is a remote role with the option to work from one of our physical offices, depending on your location. You’ll be working within CET hours, but the impact you make will be felt far and wide.

🇮🇳 back from india

bjørn in pune, india

We’re back from Pune, India, where oio’s senior designer Bjørn Karmann led an inspiring workshop, “AI for Everyday Life,” in collaboration with the CIID Summer School! Bjørn worked with a group of ambitious students and industry professionals, guiding them through the process of using AI as a medium for storytelling. By the end of the workshop, the participants had brought a series of objects to life, using cutting-edge AI tools and prototyping hardware.

Stay tuned on our instagram for updates on our future workshops.

💾 archivives

As some of you might recall, oio’s one-year residency at mudac—the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts in Lausanne—is drawing to a close. It’s been a lot of work, but also a ton of fun! In the coming weeks, we’ll be unveiling all the work we’ve done during this residency through a series of videos and posts on our socials. The highlight will be an installation at mudac, part of the larger exhibition Archives du Design Romand. Quels récits?, impeccably curated by Scott Longfellow. This exhibition at mudac offers an evolving platform that delves into the history and future of design in Switzerland's Romandy region. It features interactive elements and contributions from designers, historians, and AI, with a special focus on archiving, memory politics, and representing marginalized voices in the design world.

Our contribution to the exhibition is an installation called archivives, the culmination of a year-long residency where we explored the museum's archiving practices and the fleeting nature of design heritage.

🌸 new look!

You guessed it—we've given our newsletter a major makeover! After much thought, we’ve decided to migrate from Buttondown, a platform we've held close to our hearts since our very first newsletter back in January 2021. Feeling nostalgic? Read it here. You can still browse all our old emails here.

Buttondown has been the perfect partner to kick off our journey, and we only have good things to say about it. But as our needs have grown, we’ve started to bump up against its limits. That’s why we’ve chosen to move to the slightly-more-structured Beehiiv.

We could geek out for hours about newsletter services, so if you’re curious to hear more, just DM us on Discord.
